This place is dingy and weird. The food is not that bad but not as good as near by pizza places, the lasagna is large but not too flavorful. people were bringing there own wine in, OK that was cool but the cliental was older 50's-60's crowd I guess they live close and are satisfied with what they know. Like I said, not a bad place but with a little TLC they could double their business. Put nice wood floor thru out paint walls get rid of mixed military memories( put that in your house on a place you can enjoy it, and offer a military discount to be patriotic! get rid of dust and provide good lighting and decor. simple stuff can make a huge difference.

Joey Mozzarella has awesome pizza, a good atmosphere, and welcoming staff. We have dined in and ordered take out and have been very happy with their pizza, prices, and service. Their pizzas are the best around and the garlic knots are an awesome appetizer for a great price.

Not awful, not great. My sons ordered fettucine alfredo and were served enormous portions, which would've been great except they thought the fettucine was overcooked and the sauce blah. The sauce was a little pasty, like it came out of a jar- not home-made and not using good parmesan and butter. They liked the garlic knots. Our mozzarella sticks were just ok- like something I could buy in the freezer case at the grocery. My son's Ceasar salad was just okay, nothing special. My own pepperoni calzone was the evening's winner. The menu is very straightforward, very mom and pop Italian. Not terribly gourmet and not imaginative, which would be fine if the quality of the pasta was better. Service was just okay. When I objected to adding a Ceasar salad being $2 more when the difference in price was only $1 a la cart, our server was unsympathetic, "I don't make the prices."

Food looked good , but not New York Brooklyn ,real good italian dough pizza but bread garlic knots not real real dough like pizza dough I didn't see any garlic pieces on bread or sauce . Owner came by ask how dinner was , he wasn't happy about what I thought about the sauce .... He really got defensive . He felt He cooked for whitehouse that's what brought me to see Quality. Fair........I had chicken parm w/ Rosemary was terrible, pieces of chicken 2 ounces maybe plenty of tomato paste sauce w / spags 16.49 ? Enjoy ,ALS Pizza , brucci's :(

My wife and I's new favorite Italian place. Joey's is top-notch when it comes to food, taste, portion size and service. How many restaurants do you go to where the owner comes out and greets all his customers and makes sure they are very happy with his food?!! Here at Joey's, Luigi always comes out and does that. Love their food, their garlic knots and their staff!!

Very good food. More than what I could eat In one sitting. Good news, I have a great meal for lunch tomorrow. Great customer service and great atmosphere. A nice small mom and pop place that I will be going back to.

This place really is a find folks if you like Calzones, good pizza and Italian pastas served in HUGE plates. The owner/chef Luigi is mighty friendly without being overbearing and always makes it a point to ask how you are doing and how you liked your meal. Now when was the last time someone THANKED YOU for coming in for a meal? Right on Blanding in Orange Park, it is tucked in a strip mall ( where else ) and decorated with patriotic Navy paraphernalia and photos. It is definitely not an upscale atmosphere but a family style casual cafe. When you walk in they have a board with the nightly specials written to whet your appetite. Every time I have gone there now it is packed with family groups for celebrations. We met a nice waitress named Shauna that we immediately took a liking to. The owner always makes the rounds making sure you are pleased with the food and service. Whatever you do get their heavily garlic knots! Fresh outta the hot oven they literally melt in your mouth. We usually get a serviceable Greek salad followed with a Calzone made with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses and baked into a half moon of dough that is baked perfectly and very light. We then share their very tasty and flavorful baked Ziti with Ricotta And Marinara Sauce that is quite filling and satisfying. You are welcome to bring you own beer, cider or wine with no corkage fee. But the most amazing thing of all besides the really good home tasting Italian food it the prices with barely an entre over 9.99! Definitely one of the best local one of a kind restaurants in a sea of chain food outlets.

This was a nice family restaurant - adequate food, large portions, inexpensive. Nothing stood out that would deserve more than 3 stars. Salad was unimaginative. Soup with one entree was not identifiable. No bar service. Basic table decor with a patriotic picture theme on the walls. Probably would not go out of our way for a return visit.

Food for the value is over the top! Came here on a recommendation from a friend and will certainly be back. Food portions were huge and taste great too. Service was good as the waitress and runner worked well together covering the 15 or so tables. Ate mid week and the place was packed. Can't imagine what it's like on the weekend. Sign on door says call for reservations on the weekend. I can see why. Owner was very pleasant. He came out multiple times throughout the evening, thanking each person for coming in. Already making plans to come back.

Their famous garlic knots are amazing, and their calzone was tasty and more filling than at other similar Italian restaurant's I've visited. Great service from the attentive staff as well. All at a price that was more affordable than I expected!

Five star is no joke. We were seated promptly and it's steady business. Lots of people here ! Within five minutes what I assume was the owner comes and wishes us a well dinner. What places do that ?! It made me feel at home !(: the food portion is WELL worth the money and even the price is reasonable. My daughter ate up the spaghetti like no other. The owner even came a second time to see how we were doing. Our drinks were always filled and the service was sweet and fast. I can't wait to come back for some authentic Italian food !

  • Elizabeth C.

The portions are generous but the taste is nothing to write home about, the reviews are peoples views and mine is I have had way better. Not that this place is bad but just not that good!

  • Ashley W.

Their garlic knots are INCREDIBLE! So far I have had the stromboli, calzone, ziti, manicotti and their spaghetti and it was all very good and in MASSIVE portions. (At a very reasonable price.) I have dined in once and the service was quick. The servers were kind and attentive. I usually order the food to go for family movie nights and it is always fresh and hot every time. I would definitely recommend this to someone wanting delicious Italian food at a great price!

Truly loved this place. The owner came out and personally spoke with us. He has a true passion for cooking. He is a great chef. Everything was fresh. Tasted phenomenal and the waitresses made you feel like family. A great down home, feel at home type of place. Will be returning very very soon. Thank you for a great experience. Deborah R.

OK - update. And you know how it is when a place does NOT live up to it's previous hype? Well - Joey Mozzarella exceeds expectations in every category. This is the premier Italian Food / Pizza place in Orange Park. Bar NONE. If you have not tried it - you need to go. Want a real treat? Go in and sit down for a meal - the atmosphere is almost too friendly. (Is that possible? Thats like saying its "too much fun"). Great Food, Great Staff, Great Ownership. Do yourself a flavor - try Joey's.

Love this place! Never had anything that wasn't great. Also is BYOB...really! Went, most recently, on a Wednesday night. ..pretty empty...which is unusual. Owner came by several times to thank us and see how our meals were. Server was friendly and very efficient. Highly recommend you being your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy! Closed on Monday....

Food was very delicious and fairly priced. The Mozzarella sticks and the garlic know, yum! enough said. The spaghetti with Italian sausage was great. The marinara sauce was a too sweet. Personally, I've been cutting down on sweets, but it didn't kill the appetite. Worth visiting every now and then.

Found this place due to a recommendation from a coworker and her husband. Holy amazingness! This place is amazing. I ordered the baked ziti which is $8.95. Super cheap... The portion is insane! I ate dinner, lunch and dinner again from that one meal! The garlic knots are amazing and unlimited. The service was awesome. The owner came out and said hello, asked how our meal was, and gave us a reheating trick for our second round of enjoying. It's tucked away in a small shopping strip, parking can be a tad bit of a challenge but man is this place worth the drive!

Great italian dishes at a reasonable price. Garlic knots are my favorite. Pizza is less than average. The staff is fantastic. I will go back for sure.

Are you looking for authentic Italian cuisine expertly and lovingly cooked to order? Luigi is the owner/operator and he is the warmest, friendliest, most welcoming gentleman in Orange Park! He is a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy and loves our military! Luigi's ability is so high that he was invited to cook at the White House for a few years during his tour! Okay, back to the food... The portions are huge, but the prices are within any budget. He runs about five specials every night and I recommend each and every one! The wait staff and the cook staff are all friendly and excited that you've chosen to eat at Joey Mozzarella's! You will leave extremely satisfied, but before you go, you will already be planning your next trip back!

Each region of North Florida seems to have one or two really good pizza places and in Orange Park has 2 and Joey's pizza is one of those places. I had the white pizza and it's top notch. The only problem is like all pizza places is that you pass by a dozen other great pizza joints to get here and I can say it's worth the drive but only if you have a couple of things to do in the area as well as this place is deep in orange park.

Delicious food at a great price; really makes it a nice locally owned place to grab a bite to eat.

Great service. Good basic southern Italian cuisine. The owner/manager often greets diners and makes all feel welcome. Generous portions too.

We loved the atmosphere here. After searching for good Italian food, we finally found some of the best that we've ever had. The staff was wonderful and personable and the food was amazing. We will definitely make this our regular date night spot!

For me, Italian food all boils down to the quality of the sauce. The sauce at Joey mozzarella's is a complete miss; it is overly sweet and has an extremely blended consistency. The closest comparison for me is to ragu. That being said, if that's okay with you, and you weren't raised eating at some of the best hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurants of Brooklyn, then it shouldn't make a difference. Sorry if I offend, but let's be realistic--I don't make any claims saying I know what true BBQ is and I had never had grits or collard greens until I moved down here. Regardless, the service is excellent as is the time it takes to get the food from the kitchen to the table. The prices are also great especially when you account for portion size. Lunch specials are around $7-$8 and include garlic knots (more like garlic buns covered, and covered, and covered in butter) and a drink. I come here regularly, but I avoid anything with gravy (the sauce) and opt for one of the well priced and yummy salads.

Tried this place the other night with friends! So delish truly a hole in the wall ma and pop experience! Great customer service and even better food! The owner comes out and thanks you I was impressed!

Recently planned and celebrated a milestone birthday here. I can't express the great food, service and ease the staff (at ALL levels) gave our rather large and loud group! Couldn't have been easier and considering it was a Sat evening was even more amazing. They even helped and cooperated with decorations! Also service did not slow down as their continued weekend flow increased. And the food....from wonderful garlic knots, cheese sticks...from meatball sub to antipasto salad....tour of Italy, spaghetti to pizza...ALL fresh hot and delicious. And all so reasonably priced. This is a wonderful hidden gem in Orange Park. Please give yourself a treat and visit

Amazing huge huge portions for cheap! the food is okay but the staff is wonderful. I had the baked ziti but honestly try their Calzones YUM

If you want some good Italian food then head over to Joey mozzeralas. I thought I had found my family's local pizza spot but this place really has me second guessing myself. It is a little further than what I would like but the drive is well worth it. We order a large half sausage and half extra cheese pizza with garlic knots to go. When we arrived home we dug right in. The garlic knots were hot and buttery. I was really impressed because usually this is an appetizer that some places usually don't put as much love into. The pizza was extremely cheesy. They don't skimp on showing love with the cheese. The bottom was crispy but not burnt. I really enjoy a delicious crust and they hit it right on the head. This is a great place and you can tell from how packed it was inside. I will be going back soon for a sit down dining experience.

Just ordered from here and I really liked them. The crust was thin and crispy. The toppings were generous. The sausage had just the right account of spice. There was tons of cheese in every single bite. I would have given 5 stars if there was more sauce; however, I like my pizza really saucy so it might be a realistic amount of sauce. I would definitely order from here again!

If you want pasta, just stay home amd spend a little bit more time. The sause isn't great and the "specialty" garlic knots are overly covered in what i think was butter. The pizza is ok, almost the same as little Caesars.

Excellent mom and pop place. Their specials are alway out if this world. This is a must go to when you want some Italian Good potions and great prices

I'd say everything was decent. We ordered the cheese garlic knots. They were the perfect amount for two to share and very tasty, no complaints there. We ordered the deluxe pizza and it was ok. Fresh ingredients but lacked a lot of flavor. I think they must actually specialize in the Italian dishes even tho pizzeria is in bold on their sign. We will probably visit once more amd try one of those :)

Great service. Terrific pizza. Love the so tasty crust. Good quality fresh ingredients. Service super even as they were busy as heck. Plain place. Great prices. Luigi is the charismatic owner who retired from24 yrs as part of the White House kitchen staff. Orange Park this is the place to go.

Found this place in the back of a small plaza. The owner met us at the door with a welcome. We ordered the Meat Lasagne and a 16 inch Deluxe pizza. lasagne came with a side salad which was served fast and fresh. It was simple but full of flavor. Lasagne was great. Very flavorful and very hot. Be careful. Would definitely recommend this place. There is something about a friendly owner cooking in his own joint.

The calzones are amazing and HUGE! 7 meat lasagna was good but not great. The garlic knots, well, lets just say you cant eat just one.

My husband and I live near there and decided to go for a pizza and dine in but upon entering the restaurant we were overcome by the smoke and smell in the lobby coming from the kitchen. We continued to walk a few feet into the dining area and sat down. The table and seats were small and the place was crowded. We immediately left after sitting because of the poor ventilation and smoke bellowing through from the front lobby and their open kitchen pass through to the dining area.

The boyfriend and I have been twice! Both of us are foodies and enjoy new dining experiences. During our first visit, we shared the chicken parm and calzone. Greatness! The staff and owner were friendly and very attentive. The owner greeted each table and we joked about how I resemble a young Dianna Ross. During our second visit, over a month later, I ordered the steak hoagie while my bF ordered the baked spaghetti. The only complaint was that the noodles were not spaghetti noodles. Everything was delicious and the staff/owner remembered us from our first visit. You can't beat their prices or family atmosphere. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely a must! Excellent food, fantastic service and the prices are just as good! Huge portions that you don't want to stop eating. The staff and Mr. Joey make you feel like family.

Heard great reviews about this place. Drove from Arlington-Regency area to experience. It was worth the drive. Authentic little Italian restaurant. Service was great, our waitress Terri was really nice. The owner made us feel like family. The garlic knots were outstanding. Shared the veggie calzone and the manicotti. The sauce was wonderful and great seasoning. We will definitely be back!!! So hard to find flavorful real Italian in North Florida. We definitely found it.

  • Steve B.

The marinara sauce was tasteless, they didn't even add salt or anything, pastey blandness, if they just would have made an effort! The actual food was good, wait staff and manager attentive, the should fire the sue chef or whoever is in charge of the sauce, horrible, for that only one star!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
